Botanical Inks from Foraged Materials Workshop led by Clarissa Holmes

This workshop explores the alchemy of natural dyes. We will use common and traditional plant and mineral materials to create homemade ink. We will modify the colors with simple chemistry to create several shades from one source. Each participant will be provided with paper and brushes to create their own work of art from our homemade botanical inks.

Clarissa Holmes

“I approach art as a way of building a relationship with the land, and to strengthen the connection between myself and the natural world. Harvesting and processing plants and earth material is an integral part of my practice and allows me to establish an intentional and reciprocal relationship with my surroundings. I aim to cultivate appreciation and attention by prioritizing a slower artistic practice.

My goal as an artist is to inspire others to appreciate the beauty of the natural world and to consider their role as responsible keepers of the earth through art. I am passionate about empowering others to explore and create art in harmony with nature, and it has led me to host workshops and tutorials to share these experiences.”
