JOOMCHI with Linda Cohen
Joomchi is an ancient paper kneading technique. Similar to felting wool, the process involves breaking down the fibers of mulberry paper by wetting the paper layers and using various techniques to meld it into a fabric. Linda will demonstrate how to introduce colors and show ideas of how it can be used in a variety of ways from greeting cards to wearable art and more.
Each participant would leave with a piece of Joomchi paper fabric they have created, lots of ideas how to use it, and a bamboo mat and a brush to take home. No artistic ability needed.
Linda Cohen is a prominent artist and members of the Bitterroot Arts Guild, known for creating steampunk assemblages, spirit dolls, gnomes, and Joomchi.
