Qigong for Lungs: Frolic Like a Crane, Breathe the Healing Mist, Hum:

Qigong (chee’ gung) practitioners often modify their practice based on the

seasons. As we are part of nature, changes in nature affect us, too. On the

lunar calendar, the seasons change mid-point between the equinoxes and

solstices.

With that consideration, autumn started August 4th , just before

there was a shift in the weather. Did you notice? The change was marked

by cooler days and nights, even if temporary. There was also a sense of

change in the atmosphere.

With each season there are portions of our bodies that become more

sensitive to injury and to healing.

In autumn, the lungs are more sensitive to

pollutants, such as smoke, but are also more receptive to

healing/nourishing. In this two-session class, you’ll learn:

-Gentle and enjoyable movements of the Crane;

-The essential exercise to nourish the lungs;

-Two meditations that focus on breathing in very different ways;

-Practical dietary suggestions for your autumn diet.

Dress comfortably for movement and stillness.

Bring a writing instrument

and water.

Eat lightly before class.
