Qigong for Healthy Lungs, a multi-session class
Series Dates: Sept 16, 23, 30, October 7
October 14 and 21 optional practice sessions
Qigong (chee gung)--qi (vital energy) + gong (exercises) = cultivating vital energy through dedicated practice.
Qigong is the practice of cultivating vital energy using movement,
regulated breathing and mental intention.
With each season, changes occur in our bodies, some more noticeable than others.
Autumn is the season when the Lungs are more sensitive to injury and to healing.
You are invited to participate in this class where you will learn exercises and meditations
that are beneficial for the Lungs, including the Crane Frolic--a gentle sequence of
movements that portrays the actions of a Crane. Also, a single exercise that could be
practiced for the greatest benefit if there’s limited time, two meditations that focus on
breathing and practical suggestions for your autumn diet.
Learn and practice in class,
then continue your practice at home with a detailed handout. Two optional sessions are
available to practice and refine what you learned.
This class is appropriate for most people--young and young at heart, fit and not so fit. The exercises can be adjusted for a variety of abilities and they're a perfect complement to other self-care practices.
Eat lightly before class. Dress for movement and stillness. Weather and temperature permitting, we may be outside part of the time. Bring water and a writing utensil.
A series of four Tuesday evening sessions with two bonus sessions. We meet from 6-7:30pm. --September 16, 23, 30 and October 7 $49.
Optional dates for practicing and polishing are Tuesday October 14 and/or 21 ($10 each).
Since the 1980's, Kirk Norby has learned and practiced many different qigong exercises, meditations and self-massage sequences. He's become increasingly aware of the multi-layered benefits of these practices and enjoys sharing them so other people can realize the benefits, too.
